Mom
In honor of Mother's Day, I thought I would share this incredible post from a blog I follow called 320 Sycamore. She is doing a series on "Some Things I've Learned About Being a Mom". It's a great read. Stay tuned for my list! Happy Mother's Day to my Mom and all of my Amazing Mommy Friends!
One for the books...
WARNING!! This post may contain entirely too much information... so if you get grossed out don't read it.
I've cleaned up more puke this week than I care to admit. Sunday at midnight I woke up to Taylor yelling to me that Zach was puking, and it all went downhill from there. Puke all over his bed.. he was still asleep, puking and laying in it. I woke Ben up he got Zach in the bath, and I started in on the clean up. Then we went into our routine mode.. (we've been through this a few times, ya know?) I got the bucket, the blow up bed.. and we set up Zach's sick bed in our room. I laid down with him for a few hours... and eventually decided I needed to try to sleep in my own bed. So, I then spent the rest of the night flying out of bed at the slightest cough or grunt to make sure I had a bucket under his chin in time. I will say, I made it every time ( even a few times when he was just coughing ha.ha.). At 7am, I got up to get ready for the day.. because well, I'm a Mom and the show must go on. I got ready, got Taylor up and ready, made breakfast for her and Lauren.. all while helping Zach throw up every 1/2 hour. We then loaded everyone up in the car, Zach with his puke bucket in hand and we took Taylor to school. We arrived back home just in time to throw up again in the safety of our own home. I put Zach back upstairs in his "sick bed" and turned the t.v. on. This is where he stayed for the next 2 days. He then proceeded to throw up all day Monday & for most of Tuesday. On Tuesday he was still throwing up occasionally, so we loaded up the car again in the morning and took Taylor to & from school.. and Zach spent most of this day in the "sick room" to play it on the safe side. Tuesday night at 10:30 while watching t.v. and finally relaxing for the day..we heard the sound no parents want's to hear.. Lauren. Yes, she was throwing up. I'd be lying if I said I was in a good mood at this point. Seriously, could we really be going through this again? As you Mom's of multiple little kids know.. when you have 1 sick kid, it just about always travels through the house and it's not like you can just close down and not take care of the other ones who have gymnastics, soccer practice & school. So, we set up shop AGAIN.. Lauren got a bath (more than once), sheets were washed (more than once) & we put Lauren in bed with us for another fun filled sleepless night with a puking baby. The good news in Lauren's case is that she threw up a lot less than Zach did, and she honestly seemed to be quite a bit better on Wednesday. Wednesday morning I loaded the kids up in the car for school, but Lauren had the puke bucket this time. Ahh, Zach has graduated, how nice! Well, today is Thursday and Lauren and Zach both have severe diarrhea. Neither have appetites, and Lauren has been crying all day long. I tried carrying her around, rocking her, feeding her, you name it.. it's doesn't work. She is sleeping for the 2nd time today as this seems to be the only thing that makes her feel better. I am praying for a quick recovery here.. and still praying that Taylor, Ben and I will spared. It's been a rough week. I'm walking around with a can of Lysol on my hip, and my hand are painfully dry for continual washing. Oh, and did I mention I though this would be a good week to run a 1/2 marathon? Yes.. that too my friends.. I've managed to slip in 2 runs this week, my 3rd and final run will be tonight. On Sunday at 7:30 a.m I will be running my first 1/2 marathon... I'm pretty sure the kids being sick will help me to never forget this week. :)
