My Son at 18 months

Zachie has passed the 18 month mark, and he has made some big changes over the past few months. Here are just a few milestones, and thing that make Zach unique at 18 months.

1. He has finally come to the end of his 18 month long whining/crying stage. Seriously, he was a rough baby... and over the past few months he has really mellowed out with the crying.

2. He loves to hit his head on things. He intentionally walks around and hits his head on tables, doors, walls or the floor.. just so he can grab his head and say "Ow". Don't ask me, I guess it's a boy thing.

3. He is up to about 15 words, and while some of them are kind of random.. he is slowly but surely coming along in this department. He can say, Uh-oh, ow, Da-da, ma-ma, Tay-tay-, Tayder (Taylor), Ball, Car, Apple, Papa, Up, Ba-ba, Boo, Cracker,Na-na (banana) & Fur-ful (squirrel).

4. He will not sit still to watch television... at all. Never has, not once. He is always on the go, and into everything. Right now his favorite naughty places are the toliet, underneath the kitchen sink ( he has some how managed to figure out the child locks..), and he has figured out it is fun to throw as many things as possible down the basement steps.

5. He sleeps with his blankie (na-na) & sucks his thumb. He loves to throw his blankie out of the crib during naps.. so he can scream and make me come in and get it.

6. He climbs on top of everything, dining room chairs & table, couch's, stairs- you name it. He likes to climb up on things, and throw everything off... including breakable vases etc.

7. He is starting to thicken up a bit, but still on the short side. We haven't had our 18 month appointment yet, so I can't give his offical stats. I'm guessing he is still very low on the charts for height. He is just starting to wear 12-18 month pants, having been in 12-18 month shirts for about 6 months... he is moving out of those. We are thinking we may try streching him at night, to get his legs to grow. :) I'm kidding, of course.

8. He is starting to become a Daddy's boy... after a year and half of being attached to Mama.. he loves to play rough with Daddy.

9. He loves playing with cars & trucks.. or pretty much any of his sister's toys. The no small toys rule has never really applied to the 2nd child.. since there are pretty much always tiny choking hazards around our house. He loves to upset his sister by getting into her Barbies and My Little Ponies.

10.He will only sit still for books at bedtime, but both of my children have been this way. So, bedtime it is... we get our reading in before we say goodnight.

11. It's hard to believe in 6 short months, he will no longer be my baby! He has definitely taught me a lot about letting things go, and about the uniqueness of individual children. I love his sparkling blue eyes, and the fact that he LOVES to smile.
